Last night, I jumped up from my desk chair and hopped around the room, my motion fueled by breathless excitement. Why all the outdated dance moves and gasps for air? A reader, JeanElaine (@jean_elaine), had posted the very first review of 'The Birthday' on Amazon! She used words that included "kodak moments" and "picture perfect" to describe her impression of the short story, and, in so doing, framed my own experience with 'The Birthday' in a whole new way.

I'm the wife of a golf nut, mother, grandmother, and dog owner (although sometimes I wonder why on that last one). And now I am striving to fulfill a life long dream, write something worth reading. I love a good movie that like a good book will keep me on the edge of my seat. Ones that make me tear up are okay but I detest sappy, touchy, feel good, crap. I am a voracious reader. I will even finish a so-so book just in the hope it will get better before the end. Maybe someday others will be as gracious with my book endeavors. Finding a good book for bargain prices, or better yet free, gives me a thrill. I enjoy watching golf, I wish I could play, did I mention I am married to a golf nut?
